In this work, we aim to characterize solutions of ABA = BAB, including identifying the necessary, and where possible sufficient, conditions under which distinct matrices A and B satisfy this relation. The approach is somewhat analogous to the study of AB = BA, i.e., determining when two distinct matrices commute.
